A Journey of Beauty, History, Spirituality, and Culture!

A spiritual adventure to the culture-filled and spiritually rich ancient city of Fes accompanied by renowned author and speaker Ustadh Mustafa Briggs. For one week we will be based in a beautiful traditional Moroccan riad owned by a local family in the heart of the Old Medina, in close proximity to the Qarawiyyin, the Zawiya of Shaykh Ahmed Tijani and Mawlay Idriss II, allowing for regular access to pray in these places and attend dhikr gatherings.

This jam-packed retreat allows us to explore Fes from a historical and spiritual lens from the Medina to the zelige (Moroccan tiles) factory to the garden of saints (bab ftou) and the zawaya. It also includes a day trip to Meknes, the town of Mawlay Idriss Zerhoun and one night in a luxury campsite in Merzouga, the Sahara Desert.

Our exploration of Fes and Meknes uncovers the spiritual gems and aims to deepen our understanding as to why Morocco holds such important significance in the Islamic tradition. We will stroll through the streets and appreciate the beautiful architecture of Meknes including ziyara to the wali, Sidi Muhammad ibn al-Habib. We will also visit the zawiya and burial site of the descendent of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the founder of the Idrisid dynasty, Mawlay Idriss in the village named after him.
