Travel Information

A Journey of Beauty, History, Spirituality, and Culture!

A 10 day adventure in Uzbekistan! From witnessing the grand architecture of the mosques, madrassahs and sufi lodges to treading the path of scholars and sages along the silk road and making ziyara (visitation) to the likes of Imam Bukhari and Imam al-Maturidi. We will spend one night glamping in the desert, in the Kyzlkum desert lake in which we will have a chance to camel ride, cook traditional Uzbek food and stay overnight in nomadic yurt tents. Not to forget for the whole 10 days we will be accompanied by Ustadh Mustafa Briggs who will be teaching regular classes and sharing his wisdom and knowledge along the way, we will also have our very own munshid for recitations and spiritual melodies of qasida and anasheed throughout the trip!

This jam-packed retreat will allow us to explore Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara from a historical and spiritual lens and aims to connect us to a land which was once one of the centers of the Islamic world. This trip aims to take a deep delve in to Uzbeki culture by way of religion, spirituality, history, craftsmanship, local cuisine and local traditions!

Our exploration of Uzbekistan will unravel some gems from the Islamic tradition such as visiting the Hazreti Imam Complex which houses the Qur’an of the third caliph, Uthman ibn Affan (ra) in Tashkent, the Registan Square in Samarkand and the Poi-Kalyan Ensemble in Bukhara.
